Resources & Articles for Educators & Parents
Picture

These are dyslexia resources I've found very useful over the past 8 years. Parents have to be the experts on dyslexia, then educate the schools (teachers, IEP team, school psychologists, board of educ...). Only a few states have comprehensive dyslexia laws to date, yet often the school districts are either not aware of the laws (federal "IDEA" or their state laws), and/or not implementing properly. Many of these articles I've emailed my son's teachers, thus I've provided those that are brief and to the point.

Learning about dyslexia can really help teachers with struggling kids, as it’s estimated approx. 20% of the population has some degree of dyslexia (85% of those with an LD).

SAMPLE CHART: You can create a chart showing progress or lack of reading progress. VISUALS tell the story! This sample shows the upward trend after intervention was introduced. You could also create a similar chart showing "no progress" and use as a basis for additional support. Use DRA, or other metrics used to monitor progress. Get data as far back as you can - last years at a minimum.
